“I have known Chautauqua since I was a kid in first grade,” Flanders said. “All my life, except for college at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and military service in the army, I’ve been at Chautauqua.”

The first Chautauqua Storytellers Ravine Program will take place at 4:15 p.m. today at the Roger Tory Peterson Outdoor Classroom. It is an opportunity to hear Carol Duhme, a seasoned Chautauquan, reflect and share her life experiences.

Carol and her late husband of 58 years, Dick, met in St. Louis.

“We came to Chautauqua first because we visited my mother and father here,” she said.

Her husband taught sculpture in St Louis, and after a couple of summers of Chautauqua visits, her husband was approached to teach at the Institution.
