DFT Communications, Partners in Technology, will underwrite Bravo! Bravo!: A Family Friendly Opera Revue and special Q-and-A at 6 p.m. today in Smith Wilkes Hall, as well as several Community Appreciation Nights offered on select evenings as part of the free Family Entertainment Series.
These nights of performance and fun are thanks to the fourth year of DFT’s series sponsorship. The local telecommunications company, in addition to providing phone and Internet service to Chautauqua County, also values family and community.
“The events in the series are popular with families who are spending the week at Chautauqua as well as families who live in Chautauqua County and the surrounding area,” said Mark Maytum, president and COO of the company. “DFT Communications was founded over 100 years ago by the Maytum family and has returned to family majority ownership. At DFT, the family concept is an important pillar of our success story, so we love supporting events that promote and enhance the family experience for our residents and summer guests at Chautauqua Institution.”
The Chautauqua Opera will present an additional revue for families on Aug. 4. Other upcoming performances in the series include Migration on July 28, also in Smith Wilkes. Migration is the story of a young Mexican girl witnessing animals and insects migrate, as told by puppeteer Hobey Ford. Finally, the Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet will perform a special evening for classical and contemporary dance for young audiences on Aug. 18 in Elizabeth S. Lenna Hall.
Community patrons can request a complimentary pass from the Main Gate Welcome Center’s will call window to attend any of these free performances.
