First Lady Becker to present for Men’s Club as final 2012 speaker

Chautauqua’s First Lady, Jane Becker, will conclude this season’s Men’s Club speaker series with a talk titled “Beyond the Gates, Beyond the Season” at 9 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist House.

Becker has been active in a variety of roles on and off the Institution grounds. She is director of strategic planning for Vacation Properties since 2003. In addition, she has been the owner of a business consulting and executive coaching company for the last eight years.

Becker served as executive director of the Lenna Foundation in 2002–2003 and as president of Liberia, Inc., in Jamestown, N.Y., from 1999-2002. Liberia is an innovative software firm focused on internet and CD-ROM products. Prior to these management positions, she was executive director for the Private Industry Council of Chautauqua for 15 years.

Becker earned a B.S. from Kent State University; completed master’s work in rehabilitation counseling at Kent State and master’s work in public and environmental affairs at Indiana University; and earned a graduate certificate in executive counseling from Case Western Reserve University.
